Short Match Report

Once again I’m afraid we just didn’t perform against a team we should easily have beaten. The first 15 minutes were pretty good, playing some decent stuff on the ground and they couldn’t live with it and after 16 minutes it all came good when a low ball to Dane was fired across their goal where it was cleared back out to Jason who was 12 yards out and he buried it into the net to go 1 - 0 up. On 22 minutes we realyl should have scored again when Dane broke again this time on the right and again fired a low ball right across the goal but nobody had followed up. Then on 32 minutes we gifted them an equaliser when from a cross into the box from our right has handled by Mark and the ref gave them a definite penalty which Puds saved but the ball rolled behind him and into the net for the equaliser.  Five minutes before half time Gav had a shot from the edge of the box but the keeper saved easily. Really at half time it was disappointing because after a good 15 minutes we just didn’t do the basic things well, giving away far too many free kicks, unforced errors, wanting too much time on the ball and basically forgetting how well we can play.

The second half again started off fairly well Dane had a disallowed headed goal after 5 minutes and on 15 minutes a cross to the far post was met by a Zander shot that was inches wide and into the side netting. Then on 26 minutes we got a throw on the right, as it was put into the box someone was sandwiched and the ref gave the pen, Jas made it look easy to score and put us 2 - 1 up.  Ross came on as sub and within 4 minutes he was off again when what looked like a perfectly good tackle was adjudged a foul (if some of these refs had ever played football they may have more idea!) but unfortunately instead of walking away he kicked the ball away and got booked, swiftly followed by a Red for dissent. So thats us down to 10 with 15 minutes to go and you know what happens ! Even though we had a couple of chance to score again, right on the final whistle we gave away a needless corner that they swung in and it ended up in the net, 2 - 2. Of course because it was such a big game for them to come and get a draw all sorts of childish things were said to the bench, but its just their age and obviously a big deal to score a goal against us !

It was frustrating not to win tonight but we always seem to play better against good teams and for some reason get dragged down to the not so good teams level like we did tonight, instead of doing what we do well and thats pass the ball.

Never mind, Banchory on Saturday, it can only get better !!
