My Match Report
This was only our 4th game since the 5th December, basically one game a month since the start of December and although the lads performed well overall, a fair bit of understandable rustiness was evident in the first half which is when we had the problems.
Dyce started the better and were closing us down quickly especially in the middle but we were not doing the same so they were pushing forward but really without any danger. After 10 minutes they got he ball wide left and it was played into our box where it seems that everyone just left it and it came off the far post and was cleared. It took us until the 18th minute when Razor got the ball out wide right, cut inside level with their penally area and laid the ball across to Gav who had a shot on target from 20 yards out that was blocked, it came straight back to him but his 2nd shot was also blocked and cleared. Just after Gav won possession in a similar position but this time his shot was just wide of the post. After 25 minutes Derek got the ball wide left, he laid it off to Shaun on the edge of the box, he turned the defender and hit his shot low but it was just wide as well. A minute later Razor got the ball in the same position, crossed to the far side of the box where Shaun was unmarked but he snatched at his header which was an easy catch for the keeper when he actually had lots of time to bring it down but wasn’t aware. On 31 mins it was Razors chance when he cut into their box but his low shot was deflected and was saved at the foot of the post. Just after Dyce broke on our left and Scott had to make a great low save at the forwards feet to prevent a goal. On 35 minutes a great bit of interplay with Dane and Derek ended with the ball being laid out to Zander coming into the box on the left but he had a bad first touch and the keeper smothered, a better touch would have certainly meant a goal. Derek had another run with the ball from the middle past a couple of defenders and put the ball to Shaun but his shot was too weak to trouble the keeper.
After all these chances it was worrying we were not converting any and it proved costly on 38 minutes when they got a corner it was played in from our left and was just dropped into the middle of the box, nobody took control to clear it and it just got laid back to one of their forward who volleyed it into the net. it was such a simple goal and annoying it wasn’t cleared better but we had been hit by a sucker punch. On 44 minutes Zander again had a chance but his shot didnt trouble the keeper. Then to cap it all, right on half time, Dyve got another corner, same place, similar result. But this time with a twist ! Not only did we not clear the dropping ball in the box, when they had a shot it was handled out by Razor with a penalty and sending off the result Needless to say it was converted and so instead of going into half time with something to play for in the 2nd half, we are down to 10 men and 2 goals down.
So the 2nd half started and it was clear the lads were going to have to work hard to gat anything now. On 6 minutes we almost pulled a goal back when a free kick into their box was weakly cleared out to Jas who hit a fantastic rising shot across the box but the keeper made a great diving save to keep it out. On 11 minutes Zander got wide left and put a high ball into the box that looked like it was actually going in until the keeper tipped it over the bar. All through the 2nd half the lads worked hard but the only other chance we got was when Zander won the ball in th e middle of the park and broke through but you could tell by his body language he wasn’t confident and the defenders caught him and cleared. On another day Zander could easily have scored 3 goals but not today.
In the end we were beaten by 2 corners, we played so well in the 2nd half without creating anything like the chance we did in the first but it looked like Dyce were down to 10 men, not us.
I have to say the referee was awful, he was so obviously giving Dyce decisions, especially in the first half, even his Supervisor commented on it, this obviously didn’t help us either !
So a disappointing result but with another game under everyone belts hopefully the results will start again, next week its FC Stoneywood at home in the MCLemon Cup with a 2.15pm kick off.

DYCE 2 PHYSICAL FOR 10 MAN MAUD
Kicking off in only their 4th game since Dec 5th 09, Maud were looking a bit ring rusty. Dyce started the better of both teams and had a couple of chances early on from a free kick that flew over the bar and a long range shot which went wide. Maud were lucky not to go behind when a Dyce attack finished with a shot that rattled back out from the far side post and was scrambled clear by a startled Maud defence. Dyce being the livelier team upped the tempo and forced a great save from Cowe off a Neish shot. A good flick on by McKechnie onto Jamieson who could only fire past the post. In the 35th minute good interplay between Ballard and McKechnie who laid the ball onto A Davidson out on the left but a poor 1st touch saw the shot well smothered by the keeper. Finally Dyce broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when forcing a corner from the right , it was crossed in and not cleared properly for Forsyth to finish off. Just before half time Dyce won another corner again from the right. Crossed in Maud again failed to deal with the danger and as the shot was rifled in Rae instinctly put up his hand to deflect the ball over the bar. Penalty and a straight red card one of the few correct and fair decisions made by the ref all afternoon. Neish stepped up and sending Cowe the wrong way doubled the lead for Dyce.
Coming out for the second half with all to do Maud faced an uphill battle. In the 51st minute Maud nearly pulled one back when a shot in was cleared out as far as McDonald whose shot back in forced Buckley into probably the best save of the game. Maud were really trying to get back into the game and a floating in shot from A Davidson out left force Buckley to tip the ball over the bar for a corner to nothing. The game developed into a midfield battle as play ran from end to end. McKechnie played a ball to A Davidson whose weak shot was cleared back to Jamieson who again fired wide past the post. The game ground to a close with Dyce running out the winners. A better performance by Maud in the second half who now can look forward to next weeks cup game at home to FC Stoneywood, the third attempt for this game to be played. K.O. is at 2.15pm.
