With a few players missing today with holidays, etc, the squad was a little threadbare so it was up to the players in the shirts today to secure their places. We started off pretty well, with no height at the front we had to play the ball to feet more and after 6 minuteswe won a free kcik 25 yards out that Gav took hard and low but the ball was deflected by a defender and it went narrowly past for a corner. Over the next 10 to 15 minutes the lads played some good close football on the edge of their box, first of all John Willox got clear but his low ball across the 6 yard box was missed by everyone. Then we got through them again, this time Richie and John tried to get on the end of it but again they didn't get a shot away. Then a great ball from Stevie over the top on the right to Sisco was met with a lob that nearly went over the keeper but he got his fingers to it.  After 23 minutes however a long ball through our defence was met with one of the forwards and with Paul coming out to meet him he had to time his save perfectly, which he did to turn it round for a corner. After half an hour another free kick on their left was fed down the side of their wall by Gav to Zander but his ball across was again not finished off. After 35 minutes they got a free kick on the left, it was floated over our defence but luckily, for us, the forward at the far post couldn't quite connect. Just after they thought they'de scored when a looping header hit our bar and bounced down before Paul got a grip of it to save. Just before half time we again got through their defence but the ball from Zander was not finished off. The final action was again a great ball down the left to Sisco, but he was forced wide instead of cuttin ginto the box and the chance went. The story of the first half was some really good one touch footie that saw us break through their defence but we didn't really have a decent chance on target, or in fact any chance on target.

In the first minute of the 2nd half a bad goal kick was met by Zander but his shot went past the far post. Then after 3 minutes a sucker punch, Sisco got the ball in the middle facing his own goal but with nobody wanting the ball he tried to play across the back four, it was picked up by their No 8 who knocked it past Bruce and Ian and finished off past Paul for the opening goal. That seemed to deflate us and the quick incisive football disappeared. It was only when Jason came on after 17  minutes when he put a great ball down the channel to Sisco but his shot was wide. On 22 minutes we got the ball on the left of their box, it was played back to Sisco but his low shot was blocked. Not much else was happening until 10 minutes from the end when they got free down our left, a simple ball into our box was finished off by their No 8 again and that was it.

The lads didn't really give their keeper anything to worry about in the whole 90 minutes and he never really has to make a save which is dissapointing for us because it is the first time for many weeks, including the Hillhead game, where we never really looked like scoring. Hopefully with a lot of the team back next week we can go to Longside and produce a proper Maud performance.
