Maud Junior Football Club

Season 2020 - 21 Signings

With the cancellation of the 2019-20 season Kevin has been busy gearing up for next season with new signings and renewing of some loans and existing contracts, all below !

The most important, as far as the Club is concenred is Kevin himself of course.

The club is excited to announce the contract extension of creative midfielder Kevin Robertson. This will be Kevins second season with the club and the manager made it very clear that he wanted the midfielder to be a big part of his plans.

Kevin Park stated “Kev was part of a group that for the most part wasn’t good enough last season, and he knows exactly what we need to do to improve this coming season. Kev is part of the leadership group I am assembling here and will be great for the squad both on and off the park. With better players around him this season I’m sure the best of Kev will be on show”

Kevin Robertson added “Last season wasn’t anywhere near good enough and everyone associated with the club is well aware of that and is working hard to ensure improvements are made on and off the pitch. Not being able to play football for 3 months with no real idea of when games will return isn’t ideal but I have continued my own training throughout lockdown so I am feeling good for whenever we can get going again.I am very happy to extend my stay at Maud for another year. With the new signings and changes being put in place by the management and committee, we are all ready to kick on this year.

The Club are delighted to announce that Manager Kevin Park has committed his future to Maud JFC by signing a 3 year deal.

It is fantastic to have this commitment from Kevin at these uncertain times within the Junior Game. The Manage states 'It's an honour to be managing in the Superleague and I am looking forward to the challenge of improving Maud both in and off the park to ensure the clubs retains Superleague status and can kick on.

Maud shouldn't have been where we were last season and everyone involved with the Club knows it wasn't acceptable. I've had a lot of time to reflect and self-improve recently so I'm ready to go. By now committing my future here it means I can now look to build the squad and fill in the gaps I believe let us down last season.

The future looks very bright with some great work going on behind the scenes and some signings to be announced very soon. I'm excited with this Project and truly believe something special can happen here in the next 3 seasons'

The club is excited to announce the signing of the versatile Darren Batty. Darren previously played for Longside FC where he seen successfull spells infront of goal as well as between the sticks too.

The manager Kevin Park had this to say about the new recruit, “The enthusiasm Darren has shown to be a part of this group at Maud is second to none and is exactly the kind of commitment I’m looking for in players. His height and strength will help us so much as I feel we were bullied too many times last season. His ability to play in numerous positions will help the squad massivelly also and give us a different dimension. I’m Looking forward to working with Darren.”

Darren said “I'm delighted to have signed for Maud and can't wait to get going and test myself in the superleague and hopefully make a big difference to the club.”

The club is excited to announce the signing of Alex Quantrill. Alex was on loan to Maud last season from Inverurie Locos and has made the decision to sign permanently at Pleasure Park despite strong interest from several other clubs.

The manager said “I’m very happy to have Alex commit to the club, he is an exciting talent and has so much ability. Alex is what I would class as a match winner, and with the hard work he is putting in on the current downtime, he’s going to come in this season stronger and more focused, and cant wait to see him mature into Junior football and show us his best efforts this season.”

Alex added “ I’m glad to sign with maud after being on loan last season. I’m happy to carry on my experience in junior football with the team. I’m excited to get back on the pitch and work hard since the break of football.Hopefully we get better results this season.”

The club is excited to announce that Club Captain Craig Lowden commits to another season at Pleasure Park and had this to say when we spoke to him:-

“Last season was without a doubt the worst I've been part of in my career, with a host of things contributing to a bad season for us. Now that Kev has come in, there is a clear plan in how we need to go about improving and strengthening the areas we fell short in last year. There are already a number of new faces in, some of which joined before lock down which has added a boost as you can see the commitment and quality they bring, which was majorly lacking last season. Personally, I hope to use my experience and battling/winning mentality to instil that throughout the group and as captain set standards and help bring on some of the younger lads. During lock down I have been on a tailored diet and training plan and have used it as a way to get myself ready ahead of the new term. The mood already feels positive and like most clubs, we are eager to get started and put right the wrongs of last season.”

Kevin Park added “Craigs been fantastic for me since I’ve been at the club and we’ve struck up a good working relationship, we both have similar expectations and standards which is vital for where we want to go in this project. Craig brings experience to the squad and we are going to have a very nice balance this season. I’m looking forward to seeing Craigs leadership skills help the group through this season.”

The club is excited to announce the signing of young Fraserburgh talent, Ben Schrader. Ben has been on the radar for over a season now and we are happy to secure his signature.

Kevin Park added “Ben is a young and hungry player who can play uptop and out wide. He offers natural pace what the team has been lacking in certain areas. The 17 year old played in a friendly for us before the pandemic and scored a hat rick, so I know for sure the talent is there, its up to me to manage and develop Ben correctly so he can be a big asset for us at a young age, and theres no doubt in my mind he can eventually push on to a higher level.”

Ben added “I'm delighted to have signed for Maud and can't wait to start working with the guys and the coaching team.  Looking forward to starting this season and helping to make it a success.”

The club is excited to announce the signing of Goalkeeper Brian Forbes (BJ). The Manager has wanted this signing to happen since he took charge and is now over the moon to finally get it done.

Kevin Park added “BJ is an incredible goalkeeper and in my opinion, one of the best in the area, the demands he puts on himself and his defence will improve us in the goals conceded department, which was a major downfall in last season. Now having 2 goalkeepers makes it much more competitive and helps the squad massively.

BJ stated “I'm just excited to get back playing again and help to Maud and the gaffer out as much as possible. Hopefully we can get started soon so I can get involved and meet the lads.”

The club is excited to announce that experienced Mark Stainton has extended his contract here at Maud. Mark is one of the key figures here and the manager made it very clear he wanted the defender to be a part of his plans.

Kevin Park added “Marks a fantastic defender, you know what you are getting with him and thats 100% in everything, he’s been around the Junior game along time now and knows what its about, he has bought in hugely with what we are trying to do here.”

Mark Stainton stated “I'm delighted to be extending my contract here and playing in the superleague again. It was an easy decision to sign for another season as i can see the club is in a good place and heading in the right direction on and off the park. A great bunch of lads, committee and management made the decision simple, let's hope we can get back to training soon and for the hard work to begin for a successful season at Maud.”

The club is excited to announce the signing of Peterhead teenage forward Austin McLennan. The Manager has spoken highly of the teenager on numerous occasions and is very happy to have Austins signature.

Kevin Park added “I worked with Austin before he suffered a terrible leg break and I couldn’t believe how mature he was for a 16 year old at the time. I’m sure the injury will make him physically and mentally stronger now. At the time he was on average scoring a goal a game in mens football and outwith that his hold up play and link up play was excellent, for a 16 year old it was brilliant to see, so I am really looking forward to seeing what Austin can produce now as an 18 year old, still so young but he will fit in nicely to the project here, adding great quality. Austin, off the pitch is a great lad, which is huge for me, as part of building this squad is having good people aswell as players and Austin fits the bill perfectly.”

Austin added “I’m buzzing to get back on the pitch and hopefully contribute to having a successful season with Maud. I’m Excited to start training again & prepare for the new season whenever that may be”

The club is excited to announce that Defender Finlay Wood has signed for the club permanently. Finlay was on loan from Inverurie Locos last season and has decided to join us at Pleasure Park and focus on playing first team football.

Kevin Park said “Finlay is a player that always gives 100% and learned alot on loan last season, he is working hard on the physical side of the game and I am expecting a big season from Finlay this season. I think he can really step up to the plate this year and cement more of a starting role. His determination and attitude is exactly what I am looking for in players.

Finlay added “ I felt like maud last year really welcomed me even as being a loan player. Last year didn’t go to plan for anybody but towards the end of the season we had a spark and felt like we were on a better streak. Even though it was my first year at juniors, KP and the team made me feel confident in playing in a completely different style of football to what I had been used to. I’m very excited to play this season and hope it goes well!”

The club is delighted to the anounce the signing of Jack Walker from Buckie Thistle FC. We are very thankfull to Graeme Stewart and everyone at Buckie for making this happen.

Jack has been on loan here at Pleasure Park for the last two seasons, and we are over the moon to have him become a permanent Maud Player.

Kevin Park our Manager had the following to say, “Jack in my eyes is one of the best players in our squad, in terms of the technical, tactical, physical and mental side of the game, hes got it all, and for me to have a player of his quality commit here, speaks volumes of where we are going as a club. Jack has the potential here to get some real experience under his belt at still a very young age and hopefully the experience can help us as a team and we can help him to then get him back upto Highland League level in the future as he 100% has that potential. Im really looking forward to working with Jack again.

Jack added “Happy to have finally signed for maud permanently after a year and a half on loan. We’ve Got a really good team that know last season wasn’t good enough so will aim to put that right this season which I’m sure we will now that KP has had a full pre season and made some good signings aswell. Buzzing for the season to start now.”

This is a great addition to a strengthened squad from last season, looking forward to the kick off in next weeks friendly.

We are excited to announce the signing of Local Maud loon Liam Hay. We would like to thank Haven FC for the release of Liam in a timely manner. Liam is the first local Maud player we’ve had at the club for a number of years.

If you would like to sponsor Liam Hay, please contact the page.

Kevin Park our manager had the following to say:- “Myself and Liam have a great relationship off the park and I’ve always told him if he gets himself fit, he definetly has the ability to make the step up to Junior football. It finally feels right for Liam to give it a go, and credit to him, he has came in and worked exceptionally hard and he has shown his quality in both training and games. Liam was excellent against Buckie Thistle so already hes proved to himself that he can compete. I’m looking forward to seeing him develop further and challenge all season within the squad as we strengthen again.”

Liam also added “Buzzing to get signed by Maud, its a good group of lads that have made me feel welcomed. I’m feeling good and pre seasons been tough but feeling the benefits of it now for sure. KP’s style of play suits me down to a tee as an attacking fullback, so happy to chip in with assists, like I have so far in the friendlys i’ve played, hopefully I can continue that form into the season when it starts.”

This will likely be the last permanent addition to the squad before the start of the season. We have 4 friendlies coming up against good opposition preparing us for the 21st of November.
